Question - Can you save and grow any Tomato seed?

I'm new at gardening and wonder if you can save the seeds from a tomato that you particularly like and grow plants from these saved seeds?

Generally yes. However there are some F1 hybrid varieties that may not come true to type but those I have tried do come close (some people who have done this found they are better!!). Of course if you do not know the source of the parent tomato plant, you may not provide the same growing conditions, but it is worth trying. However if you want to be sure of the results and provide the correct growing conditions then it is best to buy a packet of seed that give full instructions and growing conditions. For example some tomatoes can grow and fruit outdoors quite happily whereas others need to be grown in a greenhouse.
